Visa Options for ICDAR 2025 Conference Attendees in China
Foreign nationals intending to attend ICDAR 2025 in Wuhan may enter the China through one of the following pathways:
Mutual Visa Exemption Agreements: China has bilateral agreements with certain countries allowing visa-free entry for specific passport holders.
Unilateral Visa-Free Policy: China grants visa-free entry to citizens of 47 countries for short-term stays.
Transit Visa Exemption: Eligible travelers transiting through China to a third country may stay visa-free for up to 240 hours.
Visit (F) Visa Application: For those not covered by the above policies, applying for an F visa is necessary.
1. Mutual Visa Exemption Agreements
China has signed mutual visa exemption agreements with several countries, allowing visa-free entry for holders of certain types of passports.
Eligibility: Varies by country and passport type (e.g., diplomatic, service, or ordinary passports).
Stay Duration: Typically up to 30 days; specific durations depend on bilateral agreements.
Purpose of Visit: Generally includes tourism, business, and family visits.

2. Unilateral Visa-Free Policy (47 Countries)
As of Jun 9, 2025, China has implemented a unilateral visa-free policy for citizens of 47 countries, allowing them to enter China without a visa for short-term stays.
Eligible Countries: Includes France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain.
Stay Duration: Up to 30 days.
Purpose of Visit: Business, tourism, family visits, exchanges, and transit.

3. Transit Visa Exemption (Up to 240 Hours)
China offers a visa-free transit policy for travelers from 54 countries who are transiting to a third country or region.
Eligibility: Citizens of 54 countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Full List of the 54 countries and policy details can be found in the referred website below.
Stay Duration: Up to 240 hours (10 days).
Conditions:
Must hold a valid passport with at least three months' validity.
Must have a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region.
Entry and exit must be through designated ports.

4. Visit (F) Visa Application for Conference Participation
Foreign nationals not eligible for visa-free entry must apply for an F visa to attend conferences in China.
Application Requirements:
Valid Passport: With at least six months' validity and blank visa pages.
Visa Application Form: Completed and signed.
Recent Passport Photo: Color photo against a light background.
Invitation Letter: Issued by the conference organizers in China.
Obtaining an Invitation Letter:
Conference organizers will provide an official invitation letter to participants who have completed registration and paid the registration fee.
